Preface. The content of this short book was given to the members of the Dutch Anthroposophical Society by Bernard Lievegoed as study material in preparation for a conference on the Christmas Foundation Meeting of 1923-4. In aim and style it has not been substantially altered for this English edition. The book is primarily intended for those people wishing to deepen their relationship to the Anthroposophical Society and to the High School of Spiritual Science. As is made evident in the text, however, deepening this relationship goes beyond the question of joining and supporting the work of the Anthroposophical Society. It implies finding a personal relationship to a profound spiritual deed, the founding of the new mysteries for our time through Rudolf Steiner. For it was the question of the new mysteries that led Rudolf Steiner to found a new, public Anthroposophical Society between Christmas and New Year 1923-4, and that opened the way to the Foundation Stone Meditation and the High School of Spiritual Science. ...
