Preface. Although Christopher Warnock is credited as the author and Nigel Jackson as the illustrator, this book has been a mutual project of ours for several years. We were initially attracted by the intriguing descriptions of the Mansion images set forth in Picatrix, and they continue to enchant us. We proceeded in our investigation of the Mansions through research, meditation, inspiration, and by working with the Mansions, in ritual and in the making of their talismans. In addition to the Mansions’ interrelationship with the manifold unity of the Cosmos, we discovered unexpected symmetry and order in the progression of the Mansions through their 28-fold cycle. That the Egyptian royal cubit was composed of 28 fingers and 4 hands, that Picatrix alluded to the 28 vertebrae of the back and that 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 28 showed us that we were only skimming the surface of the complex sympathies and interconnections unified by the 28 Mansions of the Moon and their four-fold harmony of seven. Yet the Mansions of the Moon, a true lunar Zodiac, does not easily yield its mysteries. We offer our researches to date and our compilation of the wisdom of our illustrious predecessors to those modern day followers of Hermes Trismegistus in the hope that they may find it useful, both materially and spiritually as they trod the path to Gnosis. The second edition adds a new 2019-2033 Mansions ephemeris as well as the fruits of almost a decade of additional experience with the Mansions. In particular, while continuing to practice astrological magic I have seen my approach become more devotional and my relationship with the Mansions shift to that of a celestial priest. ...
